Reducing meat consumption increases biodiversity. Livestock production accounts for roughly 30% of current global biodiversity loss!

Saves water. Only 4% of the water footprint of humanity relates to water use at home. Contrary, animal production requires large volumes of water, mainly to produce animal feed.

Reduces deforestation. Animal agriculture is one of the most significant causes of deforestation as it happens most commonly through slash-and-burn.

"The first law of ecology is that everything is related to everything else." Barry Commoner (1917-2012)
This beautiful sculpture representing a food bowl was built by the Irish people in their own country to honor the American Choctaw Indian tribe. Even though they were facing hardship themselves, the Choctaw people sent money to Ireland when they learned that Irish people were starving due to the potato famine.

We have one planet and one tribe, hyper-connected and interdependent. What affects negatively other countries (drought, floods, global warming) and people (conflicts, economic woes) will always reach us and impact our way of life at some point, one way or another.

Relying on local partners, and increasing our collaboration globally in finding viable solutions is not only imperative but existential.

How fast do manatees move?
Very leisurely: 3 to 4 miles/hr as they have no known predators.

Why are manatees so friendly?
Although they move carefully in the water, manatees are friendly and easily amused.

When excited, manatees love to perform barrel rolls and body surf for entertainment. And because of their desire for interaction, some manatees will approach you when you snorkel in the water.

Why are manatees threatened?
Manatees continue to face many threats, including collisions with boats, habitat loss and degradation, fishing gear entanglement, human harassment, exposure to red tide and other harmful algal blooms, and climate change.

Environmentalists blame pollution from wastewater treatment plants, leaking septic systems, fertilizer runoff, and other sources for poisoning waterways where manatees were once abundant, and killing off seagrass.

The ECO Spot: Making essential products from air

The ECO Channel was proud to support this ambitious startup at the recent Ocean Exchange forum.
Twelve makes CO2Made® chemicals, materials, and fuels with their carbon transformation technology. The formula replicates photosynthesis at industrial scale. Just like a plant in nature, it transforms CO2 into useful products with just water and renewable energy as inputs and producing only water and oxygen as outputs. No fossil fuels, no new emissions. Big business is taking note as their recent partnership with Microsoft, Alaska airlines and NASA, to develop a fossil free, carbon neutral jet fuel.

A bit of good news!
For the past many years, we have heard of the hole in the ozone layer as a threat to our quality of Life. According to the World Meteorological Organization, our efforts at reducing that hole are paying off. Besides occasional flares, the Earth’s ozone layer is on track to fully recover in the coming decade.

This is due in part to the Montreal Protocol agreement (signed in 1987), banning the use of harmful chemicals (CFCs) which has decreased by 99%.

Most scientists agree that Climate Change is still the defining challenge of our century. Investing in energy efficiency, purchasing green products, and reducing our waste must become the norm and our way of Life. (Sources: Oxford Academic World Scientist, UN Climate action)

For the millions of businesses, organizations, and individuals that are already on that ECO path, we have a unique value proposition: partner with us and we will become your biggest cheerleader.

WHY? As the first US-based "green" TV/media company, we solely focus on eco-friendly, sustainable initiatives.

WHAT? If your industry involves any ECO-related product or service, share with us your experience. If your business is not ECO-ready yet, we will be your conduit to motivate, educate and help steer you toward that path.

HOW? Contact us and subscribe to the ECO Channel. It’s free.
We will get back to you (we always follow up) and figure out the best way to collaborate within your industry.
